Chainlink Activates CCIP Vault Adapters for Multi-Chain Deposits

Chainlink brought CCIP Vault Adapters live on Oct. 8, 2026. A DeFi vault on one chain can accept deposits from more than 80 chains in one step, while its strategy and accounting stay on its home chain. Aave, Lombard and Maple are among the named adopters. NFA.

How the adapters function

A user approves the CCIP Router on the source chain and sends one CCIP message. The adapter on the home chain then deposits the asset into the vault. The message carries the asset plus a 128-byte payload that names the vault, beneficiary, minimum output, delivery option and refund address. Standard ERC-4626 vaults can deploy an adapter in minutes through a factory contract, with no custom cross-chain code required.

Strategy, accounting, governance and risk controls remain on the vault’s home chain. The vault itself does not move. CCIP simply carries deposits in from other supported networks.

Adoption and current use

Chainlink’s blog lists Aave, Lombard, Venus, Maple and Re among adopters. Aave is extending its sGHO vault beyond Ethereum and routing larger transactions through the adapter. Lombard noted on Oct. 8 that BTC.b holders on Avalanche have deposited into its Bitcoin vault on Ethereum since July.

RockawayX is already live with the adapters. Chainlink states it does not deploy, control or operate any vault or vault adapter.

Technical limits for now

The current version requires a synchronous and single-asset vault. Asynchronous or multi-asset vaults need a fork of the open-source adapter. Shares can return to the source chain only if the share token is a CCIP cross-chain token on both chains.

Asynchronous, multi-asset and permissioned versions are listed as on the way, with no date given.

Next steps for vault teams

Any standard ERC-4626 vault can add the adapter through the factory contract. The process takes minutes and adds no custom cross-chain code. Vault providers gain access to deposits from more than 80 chains while keeping all controls on their chosen home chain.
