Gnosis Chain’s xDAI bridge and Omnibridge began using Ethereum’s Fast Confirmation Rule on Oct. 8, 2026. Deposits from Ethereum now clear in about one 12-second slot instead of roughly 13 minutes. Bridge contracts are unchanged, and users need to do nothing. NFA.

Faster Deposit Process

The update brings confirmation times down by about 98 percent compared with the prior wait for finality. Gnosis Chain documentation notes that fast confirmation usually arrives within one slot of roughly 12 seconds. Finality on Ethereum still takes at least about 13 minutes. The change applies only to deposits moving from Ethereum into Gnosis Chain. Transfers in the opposite direction continue to use Gnosis block finality of about five minutes.

How the Rule Works

Ethereum’s Fast Confirmation Rule counts validator attestations each slot. It marks blocks as confirmed through the existing safe block tag. The system assumes attestations arrive within about 8 seconds and that at least 75 percent of stake is honest and participating. An ethPandaOps replay of one year of beacon chain data produced zero false confirmations. No hard fork or new API endpoints are required.

No User Action Needed

Bridge contracts remain the same. Each bridge validator continues to run its own Ethereum nodes across different consensus clients. Users do not need new wallets or settings. The mode is automatic. The bridges fall back to finality during Ethereum hard forks or network instability, and users cannot select the mode themselves.

Monitoring and Safety

A monitor checks fast-confirmed blocks every slot. It raises a critical alert if any such block is reorged. Gnosis Chain updated its documentation repository with the Fast Confirmation Rule page on Oct. 8, 2026, following an earlier revision on Sep. 24. The official announcement came from Gnosis Chain on X the same day the change went live.

Utility for the Community

Ownership of bridged assets stays with users throughout the process. The shorter confirmation window improves day-to-day utility for anyone moving funds from Ethereum to Gnosis Chain. Bridge operations continue without interruption. Gnosis Chain maintains its own security model while adopting the new Ethereum feature.

The documentation stresses that the Fast Confirmation Rule provides strong assurance against reorgs while remaining compatible with existing infrastructure. Bridge validators each operate independent nodes, which adds another layer of resilience. The system stays neutral and automatic for all participants.
