An agent opens a payment channel, makes as many payments as it needs, and settles once onchain using x402. BlockRun posted the same day that it shipped batch x402 payments with PayAI and the Solana Foundation. Multiple model calls now use a single USDC transaction. PayAI posted that five x402 payments equal one settlement on the PayAI Facilitator.

How the Channel Works

PayAI documents explain that a customer funds a reusable Solana channel. The customer pays for multiple requests before the merchant claims the charges. The x402 Foundation spec states that a client deposits once into an escrow channel and signs cumulative vouchers. The server verifies the vouchers offchain and redeems the latest one onchain. The scheme runs on the Solana Foundation payment-channels program.

Solana Program Capabilities

The Solana Foundation payment-channels README describes the MIT-licensed program as live on mainnet. One open and one settle replace a transaction per payment. The program never settles more than the deposit. The payer recovers any unspent remainder. PayAI notes that its facilitator sponsors channel setup and transaction fees. The shared lane requires no PayAI account or API key.

Public Preview Limits

PayAI states the public preview supports USDC on Solana mainnet. It includes capped deposits, 10 channels per merchant, and 1,000 sponsored channels service-wide. The x402 Foundation repository added the Solana batch-settlement scheme on Sep. 25, 2026. A facilitator fix merged on Oct. 2. BlockRun noted the move reduces gas fees and streamlines agent workflows.

Settlement Process
